The Rockets pair of Lee Yong Dae and Kim Gi Jung then kept up the pressure on the Hunters by winning the second game and the match.

Sameer raced into a lead and maintained it through the duration of the match. PV Sindhu played the trump match for the Hunters and with the Hunters down for the count, she clearly had all the pressure on her shoulders. Playing against Shriyanshi – Sindhu clearly started the favorite and demonstrated it from the word go.

The first dozen points were competitive but then Sindhu pressed the accelerator and ran away with the first game. The second game went the same pattern and Sindhu hauled her team back into contention.

At 3-2, the Hunters were very much back in the tie, but Mumbai just had to win one of the final two matches. Lee Hyun Il playing against Anders Antonsen started well and was ahead with just 2 points to win the first game. But Antonsen, roared back into contention – took the first game 15-13.

This clearly rattled Lee, and he was well outplayed in the second game, as the Hunters bowed out at the semifinals stage. They played some sparkling badminton through the course of the tournament but were caught cold in the knockout game.
